Homerun – The Adventure of a Lifetime

TV Reality Show

We were asked if we could provide survival guides for a TV show. It turned out to be the first season of the series “Homerun – The Adventure of a Lifetime.”

The Challenge

Four contestants were to be dropped off in the bush of Namibia and had to find their way back home on their own. To ensure they had a fighting chance, each contestant was assigned a survival guide for the first four days. The survival guides were responsible for teaching the contestants how to navigate the wilds of Namibia.

The Training

A few months later, Roman, one of our expert survival guides, parachuted with one of the contestants from an old Cessna into the Namibian bush. On camera, he taught the contestant the essential survival strategies over the next few days. Finding food was a challenge, and water even more so.

The True Test

After a few days, the contestants were left to fend for themselves, although we continued to monitor them invisibly. Nighttime was especially challenging for our team. While the contestants made fires and set up their camps, we sat in the dark, unsure of what animals might be crawling over us 🙂

Interventions

We had to intervene only twice. Once when lions came too close (still a few kilometers away, but clearly audible), and another time when a group of hyenas approached one of the contestants.

Expansion of Our Role

After this thrilling adventure, Exclusive Adventure’s involvement in TV shows expanded significantly. We took on the role of “Line Producer” (organizing and managing on-set logistics such as accommodation and catering for the film crew) for over 100 episodes. Roman, CEO of Exclusive Adventure, served as the chief of safety, responsible for both the film crew and the contestants.
